Behind the Scene

I was over at Facebook looking over photos posted by some friends whom we have come to know through photography. I enjoyed looking into their behind the scene photos during their shoot covering the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan during the Kadayawan Festival over the weekend. We might have missed the fun and the heat shooting at the streets this year since we opted to stay home and just watch it on TV as we are still getting well and don’t want to get more sick anymore plus hubby has work during the weekend that got in the way too. But I really had fun just looking at the pics and the fun they had shooting. Even that “face-off” between two photographers using Canon vs Nikon!

Earth Hour 2010

We just got home tonight from dinner out with the boys and did some grocery for the lil boy’s neccesities, just in time for the start of EARTH HOUR 2010 here in our place. The neighbor next door had already turned off their lights but she said earlier that they’d still be watching TV. The other neighbors have turned off some of their not so essential lights. When I took a peek around past 9PM, it was darker outside. The lil boy in the house didn’t want the lights out at first but he started to behave and allowed us to turn off the lights when we allowed him to watch TV. Sort of no choice. I have started doing my share of Earth Hour by unplugging appliances not in use. Turning off hubby’s speaker for his PC, turning off lights outside since the light from the streetlight near us would suffice. We somehow constantly observe our own Earth Hours here in the city since February with our daily rotating brownout for two hours.

Bonding with the Boys

Just got home from bonding time with the boys since hubby is having his first of the two long weekends off from work before Christmas. First stop this afternoon was to issue next years checks for the housing loan we have. I met my college classmate Tin who works in that government office and we talked about the forthcoming college reunion after Christmas. Then I asked for some advice regarding our plans for H project #2. She gave us an idea and we will try to think about that and work that out next year. Then the boys and I went to Jack’s Ridge where along the way, the lil boy took his afternoon nap. It gave hubby and me time to have our quiet dinner and take food shots without the lil boy playing around making it not as easy as it should be at times. You know the lil boy recently learned to make ways to distract our shoot whatever. He would make it a point he’ll be either be part of all the shots or place something in the way to disturb the shoot. LOL!

After a great dinner at the new Karlo’s Gourmet and Coffee and in time that the lil boy woke up, we went to their Christmas tree and had a few snapshots taken with the lil boy. Then we left since it started to drizzle a little then we headed to NCCC Mall where we let the lil boy ride walking animals and also the train. Then we bought the lil boy’s fave fries and sat in the parked train while we ate it. We had a relaxing time and we enjoyed the time spent this evening just relaxing in the mall. The visit at Jack’s Ridge and seeing a view of the city from above there was refreshing and relaxing.

Will try to share photos next time when I have transferred them from the DSLR.

Busy

We have been busy the past two days trying to enjoy the highlight activities of the city’s festival. We do not want to miss the two main events of the festivities especially that these two events are what we so call photo opps. The two days was fun and it seems that time just fly when you are having fun. It has been a busy two days and now I feel tired yet happy witnessing the street dancing competition and seeing the floats though I was kind of disappointed not seeing the big floats from the two malls that have been popular and winners for the past floral float parade. I have yet to go over the photos taken and try to sort out which to post and share. It was a happy Kadayawan though we wish we had more time to go around the city to see other events.

Clean the Pond

My boys and I went to People’s Park after we had a late lunch at Grub Cafe Resto yesterday afternoon. We want our lil boy to see the park and have fun there. Indeed he had fun and he even got instant fans from nursing students who were seated in the benches at one part of the park and saw him walking around with his hands clasped on his back. Anyway, we were amused as well since he posed and smiled at them when they called his attention.

But for hubby and me, what caught our attention as we went around was this pond and if I am not mistaken this must be the retention pond with the curtain falls you can see at the background. My first impression and thought when I saw this was please clean this pond! This pnd badly needs one of those pond filters from Pond World which has pressurized pond filters and filters that uses mechanical, biological, chemical and even UV filtration so that no matter what type of system is needed, they can accommodate it. I think the city government can think about cleaning this since this is a tourist attraction of the city where many tourists and balik-bayans are coming to see the popular park here in Davao. Hope they can set additional budget for the maintainance not only of this pond but of the other facilities in the park as well.

New Hotels

There are many new hotels in town popping up here and there and that just goes to show that the tourism industry is good. These hotels open up more and additional job opportunities to people in the city and gives solution to the perennial problem of tourists not being accommodated since hotels get fully booked easily when there are big events in the city. I wanna try the services of these hotels. Wishing thinking!

Weekend Snapshot | Rai Rai Ken’s Donburi Katsudon

Sharing one of my Weekend Snapshot: Donburi rice toppings – Katsudon (breaded pork with egg and onion topped on steamed Japanese rice) at Rai Rai Ken Ramen House and Sushi Bar at the newly opened Robinsons Cybergate Davao.

It tasted good though I would have wished it has more taste to it though or was it just my taste buds last night. This dinner was the second dinner treat by my dear hubby for our Mother’s day celebration. He already treated me to an advance MD dinner also at Robinsons Cybergate Davao the night before and we at at Bangkok Wok serving Thai cuisine in Davao City and it was a great dinner!
