I think it has been raining non stop for a few hours already. A few friends have posted at FB that they are getting uncomfortable already a few hours earlier. It’s past midnight now. I am praying along with many other people that this rain won’t cause any flood at all. But three hours ago according to the tweet by @dost_pagasa ” Flooding are now experienced in some parts of Barobo and Brgy Bigaan of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.” And this one “Continuous rains are being observed over Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro.” Four hours ago, this was their tweet, “Some areas in San Francisco Agusan del Sur are already flooded.”

The flood caused by typhoon Sendong and the damaged it caused is still very fresh. I cannot even watch TV because it is honestly too painful to comprehend the loss of lives especially of children (being a mother myself) and family members before Christmas. Merely seeing people who lost their loved ones bring so much pain and tears to my eyes. I cannot imagine how it is to be in their place now. So the least I can offer is to pray for them to be strong in faith and be given hope to live and move on as they cope with their loss not just of properties but of their dear loved ones especially during Christmas.

It is raining in Iligan now. There is an LPA over Mindanao and tail of a cold front that is causing this rain. Dear Lord please protect your people and keep us all safe!

I saw in the newspaper once again of that one fateful morning last month when someone that my mom knew became one of the victims of a road accident when the parked passenger vehicle they were riding on their way to work was thrown down the river under the bridge as a delivery truck hit them. Almost all of the passengers died in that accident. The delivery truck driver was drunk and sleepy that morning. He survived the accident with just a few scratches. That is what they say never to drive when you are drunk. The victims could very well file a case against the drunk truck driver by getting the services of a good lawyer such as this Austin personal injury lawyer that gives their clients with the best client service and legal representation as well as serving accident injury victims in Texas. They offer initial consultations free of charge. If you are around Texas that is you can contact them at the address: O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath – Personal Injury Lawyers – 808 West Avenue, Austin, TX. 78701 – 512-494-9949

Hubby and I have been watching the news and if you have listened or read the business news not just in the country but worldwide, you may have known that the economic market is suffering with the US debt crisis followed by that in Europe to which the US is not taking that well too plus the US credit rating downgrade by S&P. The Asian markets are suffering as well. The Philippines isn’t spared. The market index record high by PSE was lost in just two days time. Imagine! I don’t totally understand this well but we are seeing the effects.

But if we have been in this situation before, experts like Mobius say during his recent visit that the global economic decline is not really something we should fear for, in fact, we should prepare and take advantage of it. In the stock market as mentioned in the news, share proces are down. The index is down by 200 points after our index has been noted to have record highs. In the mareket today alone of the 197 stocks traded, 173 are down. Meaning they are in the red, at a great loss. There is a blood bath in the stock market with almost all stocks in red or at a big loss.

Take advantage of it, it is time to buy. Common thought is that it can be time to go for a shopping spree! They say what goes down, will go up. But when is that time that they will recover, only time will tell. But you can still play in the market with some stocks if you look at the news. Only we don’t have the money to do so. These things become theoretical only. But for those actively investing, this may be a good time to buy while others are letting go out of fear over the economic crisis. Only we don’t know until when this crisis will be over. That’s the big risk! So the common thought, people should have been prepared and at the same time, take advantage of it.

We just got home tonight from dinner out with the boys and did some grocery for the lil boy’s neccesities, just in time for the start of EARTH HOUR 2010 here in our place. The neighbor next door had already turned off their lights but she said earlier that they’d still be watching TV. The other neighbors have turned off some of their not so essential lights. When I took a peek around past 9PM, it was darker outside. The lil boy in the house didn’t want the lights out at first but he started to behave and allowed us to turn off the lights when we allowed him to watch TV. Sort of no choice. I have started doing my share of Earth Hour by unplugging appliances not in use. Turning off hubby’s speaker for his PC, turning off lights outside since the light from the streetlight near us would suffice. We somehow constantly observe our own Earth Hours here in the city since February with our daily rotating brownout for two hours.

I think I need to have my eyes checked so I could have better sight. It has been quite a long time since I could no longer see clearly words from afar unlike when I was much younger when I could read words written from afar especially those written small. A few weeks ago I was watching a news feature on Americans or other western nationals going to other countries for medical treatment such as having lasik surgery Mexico and other eye treatments sought usually are: myopia, astigmatism, farsightedness, presbyopia (eyestrain), cataracts (FACO), glaucoma, Canaloplasty, Refractive surgery, Corneal surgery, Vitreo-retinal surgery, Eye muscle surgery, and Oculoplastic surgery. Lasik prices in the US often ranges much higher compared to those in countries like Mexico where people opt to go to these days. Even others go to Mexico for other treaments like plastic surgery coz they are much more affordable as what I heard. But it is up to the patient to decide where he wanted to be treated and what he opts for when it comes to such eye treatments so that we can have better eye sight.

The news about the flood and its victims since yesterday is really depressing and has been affecting me since last night as I was so close to tears already hearing and seeing on TV the really sad predicament of the people in Luzon who were really affected. It is even more depressing to think of the young victims, missing children and their loved ones, properties lost much more for the 51 lives that has been lost due to the tropical storm and flood that hit them there. I even stopped watching the TV other than the press conference being held by the government and NDCC. I heard there were even military people who went missing last night as they tried to help with the rescue operations. The heavy rainfall yesterday for six hours had been one of the major reason behind this. We pray for the souls of those who died and for their families who are still coping and struggling to rebuild their homes and lives again after this.

Aquino who died at 3:18AM today due to cardiac arrest and as we Filipinos know she has been fighting colon cancer since she was diagnosed since March 2008 (if I am not mistaken). I just finished watching the 9PM mass held live at La Salle Greenhills. For awhile, I felt I had a heavy heart listening to the music so much familiar and related to letting go. Even the theme song for EDSA 1 stirred some sad sentiments inside as I listened to it after Jim Paredes tweeted a link to the song in YouTube. We lost the icon of democracy who has inspired a lot of us and also people around the world. I hope all of our country’s leader will respect the cause she has fought for even as Cory Aquino took her last breath. Thank you so much former President Cory Aquino for everything you have given the Filipinos!

I saw in the news yesterday that there was an motorcycle accident in the diversion road. The news anchor started the news by saying “slippery when wet” and that intrigued me. There is a part of the diversion road that is accident-prone and motorists and other drivers have been warned to be careful when they reached that part of that curved road. Wearing helmets is strictly implemented here and even wearing one does not totally spare motorists from accidents. So drive carefully and safely so you won’t need to look for a San Jose motorcycle accident attorney ever. This is one thing that makes me think more than twice when I think of the possibility of buying a motorcycle for hubby.

We are all excited for the upcoming May 2 Pacquiao vs Hatton live fight so called The Battle of the East and West – Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao vs Ricky “Hitman” Hatton which will aired here tomorrow May 3. Here Solar Sports will cover the match and will be aired in GMA 7. As a usual effect of every match that Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao has, we notice that people stay at home to watch the fight on TV if they are not in paid or free pay-per-view venues. The streets will be quiet and often times you would wonder if drivers had gone on strike or if there is a transport strike that going on unannounced and not in the news. The police has always said that crimes during the day of Pacman’s fight is almost always low.

So who do you think will win between Pacman vs Hitman? Boxing experts have said that this will be one of Manny’s hardest fight to win ever. I hope Pacman will make us proud if not prouder one more time or would be best if he makes us proudest tomorrow.
