Are you a Caregiver?

Movies , Personal Thoughts 94 views June 3rd, 2008

Just thinking that we go through life and make a decision on something and we can never turn back from it. So when you get to that new chapter in your life with someone whom you cannot change and refuse to change, then it is a challenge for you to accept them as they are, go on with life existing with them or make that very hard decision to move on on your own. But what if it would affect another person’s life and would make you think that you cannot be selfish, you just have to sacrifice your happiness for them to a point that you can just forget about loving your own self for their sake. Losing your self can be hard but sometimes it is a sacrifice one has to take. But on the other hand we have to go through life making hard decisions which at times are painful decisions but we must make them. I am not a caregiver but these are just some thoughts that run through my mind after I watched yesterday the latest movie of Sharon Cuneta’s Caregiver from Star Cinema. It may be a predictable movie but the realities are there. The most touching scene for me was when Sarah (Sharon) found the letter written inserted in the book given to her by her former care Mr. Morgan who had just died. I cannot remember ow the exact words but it says something like finding your own happiness as a wife and as a mother. Mothers tend to forget about their own happiness and what makes them feel alive as they sacrifice it in order to make a happy family. But often we do not realize that we lose our identity, our love for ourself. Do you think it is bad to explain? What about complain? Do we have no right? Do we always have to swallow our own wants just to give to others? A caregiver gives care… but then do you get take cared of too?

Not anyone can be a caregiver because it is not that easy. Caregivers end up putting some of their personal life, desires, and goals to meet the needs of those people who they love. When caring for others, they feel quite the same emotions.
