Are You Concerned About Pesticides on Your Food?
We as moms should be! Think about this: “If pesticides weren’t poisons, they wouldn’t kill pests…and we wouldn’t worry about eating them with our food. But they are…and so we do.”
This had me thinking after I found a link that led to another article about passing on pesticides. Now after reading the article, I understand why the little one should not eat apples, why we should lessen eating pork, chicken, even fish and bread. Or at least have this reminder in mind… don’t forget to trim the fat off meat, poultry, and fish, since that’s where some pesticides concentrate. Get that mommies? I love the fat in meat, but now I should realize it is sinful and ‘deadly’ too. Not good. So I hope hubby listens when I tell him not to eat the chicken and pork skin and fat as well. Good luck!
Peeling off the skin from produce for example does not guarantee since the pesticides could have already seeped inside. Note also that the idea that the no-blemish fruits or veggies should make you think they could have gotten the greater amount of pesticides that are needed to prevent cosmetic damage. Though I am guilty before of choosing the most blemish free apple and mango for our little boy. But I do know as with mangoes that those with blemish on the skin could even be the most delicious when they are ripe.
They say choose organic fruits and veggies. The question is where can we find them in our local place. Now that will be something I have to research on.
