Yesterday, hubby and I chanced upon a TV show called ISLA on cable TV and If you have been to my main blog Blessings in Life, I have posted this photo as an entry for WW. Anyway, I saw this on TV and they featured the artist and painter behind this beautiful and colorful bridge in Singapore which is an idea and was painted by a Filipina artist named Pacita Abad. She is a Filipina whose hometown was in Basco, Batanes. She was a graduate of the University of the Philippines. She was a cancer patient who was confined in a wheel chair. With the help of a creative team, she painted this Alkaff Bridge as her gift to Singapore. She passionately believe in public art and hope that this project inspired many more like it and brings art into the every day lives of Singaporeans. It is a great work of art and entails painstaking details just to finish this. Her story was really inspiring. At one point, because of her condition, she can hardly write her signature in her artworks but she continued to paint colorful and beautiful art works which is really her trademark.

Hope you had a colorful weekend! Thanks for coming over! :)

I’ve crossed this bridge numerous time but didn’t have the slightest clue who painted it. Thanks so much for sharing this piece of information. She’s a real great painter despite being wheelchair bound. *Salutes*
